3 Ghoulishly Good Halloween Coffee Recipes

Spooky season is creeping up on us, and nothing says Halloween like a cozy autumn-inspired coffee!

As homes get decked out with cobwebs and pumpkins, costumes take shape for fancy dress parties and sweet treats pile up in the kitchen in anticipation of trick-or-treaters, it’s the perfect time to add a haunting twist to your drinks.

If you need some inspiration for your seasonal brews, we have three frightfully good recipes for you to try this month.

  1. Witch’s Cold Brew

Double, double, toil and trouble! Nothing says Halloween like a witch's brew, but instead of mixing potions in a cauldron, why not give your favorite cold brew a spooky twist?

You will need:

  • 8oz cold brew coffee - try Temple Bar 
  • 1oz chocolate syrup (or liquor!) - try Monin Chocolate Syrup
  • 5 tablespoons single cream
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of ground ginger
  • Granulated sugar to taste

Instructions:

  1. Pour your coffee into a coffee cup
  2. Stir in chocolate syrup or liquor
  3. Measure out 1 ½ tablespoon of single cream and stir
  4. Mix your cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger together, and either stir into your drink with a spoon, or sprinkle on top for a stronger kick of flavor with your first sips
  5. Add ice, and enjoy right away
  1. Apple Cider Latte

Bobbing for apples is a popular Halloween pastime, but why bob for them, when you could infuse them into your coffee instead?

If you're looking for a great way to add a boozy twist to your Halloween coffee creations, you can't go wrong with an Apple Cider Latte. It's a mildly alcoholic treat that is sure to go down well with guests this holiday!

You will need:

  • 1 shot of strong espresso - try Wanted Extreme Caffeine
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider
  • 1/4 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cups of hot milk
  • Whipped cream
  • 1/2 tsp of apple pie spice

Instructions

  1. Heat your coffee, cider, and sugar in a saucepan for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until the sugar has totally dissolved.
  2. Add your milk to a jar or container and shake it until frothy (if you have a milk frother, you can use this instead!)
  3. Combine milk and coffee mixture and top with whipped cream and apple pie spice.
  4. Try adding a splash of apple or cinnamon liqueur to give your latte an extra kick of cozy fall spice!
  1. Dirty Chai Latte

Ready to get adventurous with your brew? Give your Halloween coffee a spicy twist with an easy Dirty Chai Latte!

This latte is bursting with flavour and is sure to impress friends and family this Autumn. 

You will need:

  • 3 heaped spoonfuls of Chai Latte - try Drink Me Chai Latte
  • 1/2 cup of boiling water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 shot of espresso, cooled -  try Temple Bar 
  • 1/4 cup of milk (or milk substitute of your choice)
  • Ground cinnamon or cardamom (optional)

Instructions

  1. Steep your tea bag in your boiling water, whisk with honey and allow the tea to cool.
  2. Brew a strong shot of espresso, making sure to grind your coffee evenly and tamp it down firmly before letting your machine work its magic.
  3. Add ice to a glass, pour in the tea and then add the espresso. Finally, add milk and your choice of ground cinnamon or cardamom for the finishing touches.
